A Charlotte School of Law Alumni, Deondra enjoyed a career with the Social Security Administration for over a decade prior to starting a career in law. Deondra held positions within the Social Security Administration such as Claims Representative, Technical Expert, and Operations Supervisor.
As a Technical Expert, Deondra provided staff with definitive interpretations of Social Security policies, laws, regulations, and administrative procedures. During her employment with the Social Security Administration, Deondra implemented and created workflows to streamline processing and adjudication of claims, appeals, and other applications filed online, by mail, and in-office. Deondra supervised, mentored, and trained Social Security staff, managers, supervisors, and community partners in matters related to Title II of the Social Security Act and Disability. While working in the field office of the Social Security Administration, Deondra created, and established the procedures for the first appeals unit as well as other specialty units to reduce field office processing time.
Deondra also voluntarily served as an advocate for homeless individuals participating in the city of Rock Hill’s Homeless Court.
