CHARLOTTE, NC MILITARY VETERANS CANCER & DISABILITY BENEFITS ATTORNEY

Is Your Cancer Military Service Related?

Armed services veterans from the Vietnam, Korea, or Gulf wars who have been diagnosed with cancer should consult a veterans disability attorney. There is a significant possibility that your cancer may be a result of chemical or radiation exposure during military service.

Cancer and Disability Benefits: The Military Service Connection

The Veterans Administration presumes that all Vietnam veterans who had boots on the ground in Vietnam came in contact with Agent Orange. This is also true for some Korean veterans. In addition, radiation exposure may have occurred in Hawaii, Nevada, and a number of other locations. The VA’s list of cancers associated with Agent Orange or other service-related toxins includes:

  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia
  • Respiratory cancer
  • B-Cell leukemia
  • Hodgkin’s disease
  • Prostate cancer
  • Soft tissue sarcoma
  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia

If your cancer is on the list, you do not even need to provide proof that military history was the probable cause. Family history of cancer also makes no difference.

If your cancer is not on the above list but you are still unable to work, talk to a veterans benefits attorney and ask about your disability options. At The Piemonte Law Firm, we help disabled clients—both military and civilian—attain the maximum amount of disability benefits. If you suffer from cancer after serving in Vietnam or Korea, ask our team how we can assist you.
